I first began to get visions of the future in 1995 and decided to start to research what threats we face and what can or cannot be done to prepare for such things. I asked myself what things would be have to be done to protect us from the constant threat of annihilation as diverse as asteroid strikes and nuclear war. The vision that really started this search for answers both personal and global in scope is this vision, I experienced in December 1995:

Black Pearl Vision.

A vision of Earth came before me. Suddenly the Earth erupted with water coming from deep within the Earth. Then the Earth was consumed with fire. The fire destroyed everything on its surface. Then my vision came closer as if it were zooming in on the Earth from space. My vision took me into the Earth, just below its surface and there I found the remaining survivors of the apocalypse. These dwellings were absolutely state of the art, and were designed to be used both in good times and bad. Experience 1; Dream Diary – 1995.

I immediately started to design a city or a town which could withstand most of the major global catastrophes, making a list and designing the building around that list. I read up on asteroids, earthquakes, global flooding (which I since discovered wasn’t possible), flood basalts (major ‘continent sized’ volcanic eruptions) and volcanic eruptions like Krakatoa. The city would have to be earthquake proof, flood proof, and be able to function normally whilst cut off from the outside atmosphere in the event of poor air quality and if cut off from the supply of food, water and electricity. Bill McGuire of The Benfield Hazard Research Centre says that non-global killer asteroids, perhaps a few meters wide and large volcanic eruptions would cause poor air quality and darker skies for about three to ten years, so the city would have to be able to provide fresh air and food etc for three to ten years. I also factored in environmental sustainability and began to look at what kind of democratic governmental system would best suit this way of life.

The vision of a town or city then became a vision in its own right (see Figure 1), separate from The Black Pearl vision. It is a holistic vision of peace, democracy and safety from global catastrophe and poverty, oppression and so on. A beacon of the combination of all the good stuff, which a new society should enjoy, not excludeing anyone. Stretching throughout the world in similar but not exact copies of one another. In fact I have always been very wary of exact copies; homogenised communities if you like. That these are places where creative thought and diversity perish. But instead I want to show a place where the cities commit to an ideological framework, which encompasses design, but is not dictated by it. These parameters or red lines can be found in a separate document, at http://www.futuretowns.org. It is a basic framework which will ensure that the population is secure from most disasters. These things happen regularly in earth’s history, and so the Black Pearl vision predicts a prolonged period of natural disasters, which test humanity to the brink of destruction, and maybe beyond into extinction. So the thinking is that in order to prepare for these kind of events, then it is to know that some disasters on our list are unavoidable in their total destruction of earth or perhaps just the life enabling systems of earth as well, meaning no species can follow us once we’ve gone.

Any major event which happened to our sun for instance would lead to complete annihilation with no opportunity for escape. An exploding sun, a warming sun, an expanding sun, and a dying sun would all lead to this complete extinction of which there are no viable escape routes. So although the vision of the safe city can keep us safe in some events, it cannot in others. What this says about preparedness is that it should be done to minimise death and suffering, but it will never extinguish the threat completely.

The second vision is a companion vision to the first one. Sometime in 1997 I saw this vision whilst lying down half asleep on my couch. You could call it a hypnapompic vision; a waking dream. The vision is of a pyramid system of government which combines four primary aspects of modern government and brings it together (see Figure 3). The rest of the theory I added as an interpretation of its meaning. The vision went as follows:

I saw a large pyramid, with four sides, with large coloured blocks, with a different primary colour on each side. One side was red, one yellow, one green and one blue. It slowly span round 180°. Experience 3, Dream Diary.

Immediately I assigned each colour to a political movement, which is fairly obvious but this is how I worked it out: the pyramid is a political metaphysical structure. Red stands for the labour force and work issues, blue stands for industry and finance, yellow for social issues, like social work or healthcare and green is for resource management and environmental issues, including planning and environmental sustainability. The key differences were that the blocks work together. There are no ‘parties’ only individuals. As they come into power after elections they will fall into a colour where they will work towards the common goals and aspirations of society. There are also a number of other things which were developed as part of the theory. But these developmental issues were not related to the vision itself, so I won’t go into them here.

It’s important to point out that my red lines for democracy; of justice, freedom and equality, still function in this new system. The vision itself shows a way of preparing for the future, coping with changes in society such as population growth and resource management, and call an end to the party system and adversarial politics; all good positive things. But as with many visions of the future there is a difficult side. Would God create such a vision in me, and if so is this His vision, His will? It’s a question I have not been able to answer very easily. I believe it is a way of running our society which pulls in public opinion and builds co-operation between parts of the government which are at odds now. The alternating ideology of socialism and capitalism combines to cause long swings or cycles in economic function. It can cause fractured thinking and policies. Because the cycles are long acting, taking time to appear and disappear we can assign success and failure to either party. The vision is concerned about stable co-operative systems where ideology doesn’t falter every four years or so, focusing attention on providing services, such as watching and managing the use of natural resources, currently being run ‘like a business in liquidation’ (Schumacher). It focuses on all aspects of society and all its parts as a single system. In a sense it focuses on a successful society instead of a successful economy; the two things being very different.

The next vision was a method used by NostraDamus. NostraDamus was known to use a method called ‘scrying’, in which the diviner would stare into a candle for thirty seconds or more and then take the candle to one side and stare into a reflective surface; in NostraDamus’ example he used a bowl of still water. I used this method, with a mirror and saw three things. The Eiffel Tower in Paris, the number 14 and a dark halo. I did this back in 1998 and in 2002 I saw a hypnogogic vision of the Eiffel Tower (Experience 51, Dream Diary). All this can easily be tied together, that the antichrist will attack Paris on a date with the number 14 in it.

Having been preoccupied with the Biblical Prophecies of the end times, these predictions played on my mind quite a bit over the years. Its weakness is the method that NostraDamus used was prone to misinterpretation. These misinterpretations have dogged researchers, professionals and laymen alike. If I was to do what NostraDamus did, and that is to put into a Quatrain it might sound like this:

A visit to Paris is a one way trip,
Without setting foot, he will destroy all,
On the 14th day of the 14th year,
A dark halo will form from within.

Had I presented my vision in a Quatrain like this one, I could have kept people guessing for years. But NostraDamus always wrote his quatrains with one eye on the past, believing that history repeats itself. He would study history, then the movements of the stars, to see if he could find repeating patterns, which could be calculated backwards and then he would look at the history books for that particular time. He would then scry, and then predict. NostraDamus used this method because he feared persecution by the Inquisition and hid his predictions by making them into rhymes. I’d like to think that Paris won’t be attacked on any day, but who knows. Whilst I am skeptical on how to interpret NostraDamus it is often those attempting to interpret it that get the guess right. One interpreter saw that the third antichrist predicted by NostraDamus would be a Middle Eastern terrorist (Allan Hall back in 1996). Hall got the prediction right but did NostraDamus really have a Middle Eastern terrorist in mind when he wrote the Quatrain? We’ll never know.

Global Flooding.

When I first saw the vision back 1995 of the earth flooding, I realised immediately that God promises Noah in the Bible that the earth would never be flooded again, which He sealed with a rainbow. However, a world covered in water isn’t actually possible. There isn’t enough water, including both ice caps melting. However, later in Revelation it says:

Rev 12: 16. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. Rev 12: 17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

This means that flooding will be a part of the End Times, should they happen as described in the Bible, with the earth ‘opening up’ to swallow the water. It is for this reason that I have included this vision I had in 2003. It indicates much more than just a flood though. This is the vision. I did start giving names to these experiences by now:

‘Concrete Stilts’.

I saw a lot of houses where the downstairs areas had been converted to allow for extreme flooding. Upstairs held the living areas and downstairs was on concrete stilts, where many people kept a boat of some kind. There was wide spread flooding already across much of the land. Some people had been cast out from society and were sent up into the hills to die including me. As we gathered there, I saw a dark pulse moving across the water which demolished the houses on stilts, while the outcasts remained safe on the hills. Many people died. Experience 53; 10th February 2003, Dream Diary.

It shows several features of any future flooding. For a start it is thought that sea levels will rise anywhere between a few inches to a few feet. The reason why I can’t give a figure is because the science is changing quickly. Recent estimates put it as high as seven meters. Some have even suggested 70 meters. The change upwards has been attributed to land based ice contributing more to sea level rises than was first estimated. So the figure changes as the scientific data comes in.
But back to the vision. It shows poorer people moving to the hills to live in shacks and tents, while richer people adjusted their houses to accommodate the flooding. They moved upstairs, converting the downstairs into a place for a boat and removed the walls leaving supporting stilts.

This kind of flooding will be normal within fifty years throughout the world, as sea rises reclaim land and flood plains. In fact some governments including the UK have begun to look more closely at which flood plains could be used for flooding sea water to move into rather than into cities and towns.

The most striking event in this vision is the dark pulse which wipes out the houses which the richer people have converted. This might indicate an earthquake such as the Asian Tsunami on December 26th 2003. So is this a vision of the future or a prophetic dream which has already happened? Probably both. It shows the future of housing in the UK, as I saw it and it shows the effects of tectonic energy on water; something we hadn’t witnessed before on such a massive scale until Boxing Day 2003.

Again with the second related vision I saw a flood in the UK. I saw this one after a long dream about looking after some abandoned kids and caring for a friend who got into trouble with a cult. So the theme of caring is what started the dream, before I woke and immediately saw this vision:

I was in a flood, and the muddy flood waters were up to my chest. As I moved forward through the water, I could feel the mud in my shoes. I looked across the flood plain, and the water which stretched across into the distance, and saw the trees poking up from the water. I was frightened, my heart beating quickly. Experience 151; 1st September 2004. See No. 8: ‘August 2007 Updates’ for the results of this dream coming true.

These visionary experiences, I am sure, relate to the UK. Also, there has been several tectonic stress lines discovered recently right across Europe heading from the South East to the North West, from the Alps through to the UK. We once believed that we were safe from serious earthquakes in Europe but we are not entirely immune to them. The stress lines relate to the Indian Subcontinent crashing slowly into the European plate. An earthquake following increased incidence of flooding, could cause a catastrophe not dissimilar to the Asian tsunami in 2003.

Lastly I wish to mention a series of three dreams I had prior to the Boscastle floods in 2004. I had a series of dreams prior to 2001, in which I would climb a hill into a village and then witness a flood and mud slide, down through the village often clinging to something to stop myself being swept away. In at least one dream I arrived just after the flood, seeing debris lying around on streets covered in thick slimy mud. I did not know that what I was seeing was Boscastle. The dreams were significant because again they repeated key themes three times and were very lucid. I did not begin my dream diary until 2001 so I have no record of them.

Summary.

There are also many dreams I could have added to this essay. However I decided to keep to just these few. The first vision and the vision of the city are linked to the flooding themes, because they show a society tested to the limit by global disaster. They show a modern economy shattered, a population all but wiped out and taking to the hills and the early signs of things to come in Boscastle. In the Bible it says:

Mark: 13:14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judea flee to the mountains:

Mark: 13:15 And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter [therein], to take any thing out of his house: And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment.

Good advice, because according to my vision rebuilding your house to escape the floods won’t be enough. However, the passage does refer to Israel and the abomination of desolation ‘standing where it ought not’, is thought to refer to the Jewish alter in Jerusalem being removed and an idol or false God in its place. When this is seen it is time for the end.

But as is the case when I discuss these issues with friends, we often ask what would become of those left behind? An issue the church often discusses. Would you want to be one of the ‘lucky’ few who survives or is it better to die instead? What the visions and dreams show is a population dealing with threats by using technology and buildings. But in the future will we be chased by bad fortune to every corner of the earth only to find that the survivors die out as well, unprotected and exposed to the cold, the wind, the rain, or the searing heat and the lack of food and medical care? But will survival be possible or desirable if a really large disaster comes along? I don’t know.
